Get Tall for Animals Sky Islands Guide
How taller legs let you explore the sky islands in Get Tall for Animals: the confirmed tiers, the power gates seen on one climb, and what lives on each.
The sky islands are the top of the vertical map in Get Tall for Animals — the destination the game's own description points to when it says to "Grow your LEGS to reach the sky islands." Access runs on one rule: eating raises your GROW VALUE (your power), power grows your legs, and the climb upward is a ladder of gates that open once that power is high enough. In one recorded playthrough, the gates read 100, 400, 1,000 and roughly 6,500 from the lower floors to the final gate. There is no official island name list and no documented step-by-step route from spawn — you navigate by landmarks, meaning what each tier looks like and which animals and eggs live on it.
What the "sky islands" actually are
The official game description ties the islands to the eat-and-grow loop: eat to increase GROW VALUE, grow your legs, reach the sky islands. In actual play, the confirmed elevated destinations form one stacked, gated ascent rather than a scatter of separate floating islands: an island-side area near the start, then floor 2, a sea/beach level, an ice mountain, a savanna, and a purple topmost floor. No source names any of them officially, so the labels below are descriptive — and they're how you'll recognize each destination on screen.
How to get up there
- Eat burgers to build power. Burgers are available at your house. Eating raises your eating power — the stat the game calls GROW VALUE — and power is what makes your legs grow taller.
- Upgrade the burger. Upgrades let you eat more per bite and faster; one run shows a level 3-to-4 upgrade and, much later, a 10-layer burger. The players in that run credited reaching floor 2 directly to being tall from eating.
- Hatch stronger animals for bonus power. Large special eggs grant big jumps — in the recorded run, a giant jellyfish egg was worth 1,000 + 600 power and a giant crab about 1,000 — and that power raises how high you can climb.
- Walk up through the gates. Each gate on the ascent opens when your power is high enough. The check is on power, not your player level — the players explicitly corrected themselves mid-run ("not level 1,000 but power 1,000"). If a gate stays shut, you're simply under its threshold: at power 40 one player nearly reached the snowy mountain tier while their partner at 38 could not.
Gate power readings from one session
| Gate on the climb | Power shown on screen (one session) |
|---|---|
| Second gate on the ascent | 100 |
| Beach gate | 400 |
| Mountain gate | 1,000 |
| Final gate, before the purple top tier | about 6,500 (the trailing figure is unclear in the recording) |
These numbers were read on screen once, during a single recorded session, so treat them as a rough ladder rather than fixed requirements — and they may shift with updates. Players in that session also deliberately "trained" (ate) before pushing into each new zone, at eating power 75 and later 95.
The confirmed tiers, bottom to top

The first island above the starting ground
Once your legs have grown from the first stretch of eating, you can climb the island-like area beside the starting zone — the players head straight for it as soon as they're tall, calling it an island. It holds a giant-rabbit egg, which hatches at your house in about a minute.
Floor 2: the first closed door
A closed door on the ascent opens once you've eaten enough and grown taller. Floor 2 holds a special egg and a parrot.
The sea/beach tier
The next floor up looks like a seaside beach, and the water is patrolled by a Megalodon shark. You'll also find a giant crab, a ray, and jellyfish eggs. One practical note from the run: the moment you step out of the water, the Megalodon stops following you.
The ice-mountain tier
A tall snow-capped mountain sits above the beach tier, and it demands clearly more power than everything below it — that's where the power-40-versus-38 moment happened. The players nickname it the "mammoth floor," though they never actually spot the mammoth during their visit. What they do find: a polar bear, and large dinosaur-like eggs hidden behind a waterfall — in the run, an egg was grabbed while the guarding dinosaur was inside the falls.
The savanna tier
Open grassland above the ice tier, reached after further growth and burger upgrades. Its residents: a lion, a gorilla, kangaroos, and ostriches.
The purple top tier
The topmost floor is purple and sits behind the last and highest gate. When the players looked up at it, they couldn't see how high it goes — and what's actually up there isn't documented in any available source.
None of these labels is an official zone name; they come from how each tier looks and what lives on it in one recorded playthrough. Landmark and animal recognition is the identification method this page can stand behind.
Getting back down — and getting home with an egg
Descent is free: jump off a high tier and you'll drop or fly back toward the home area (though players did struggle at times to spot their house from above). While leading a collected animal home, stay inside the red line and beat the pursuing guard to your house — several chases in the run were won "just in time." For the steal-and-sprint side of that loop, see the how to steal eggs guide.
When a gate blocks your climb
A shut gate means your power is under its threshold. Head home and:
- eat at your burger to build power — training sessions are exactly how the recorded players prepared for each new zone;
- upgrade the burger so every bite counts more;
- hatch the eggs you've collected, since stronger animals mean more power on the next attempt.
If you want the full growth loop explained step by step, the how to grow taller guide covers the leg-growth mechanics in detail, and the grow tall fast guide focuses on speeding it up. It's also worth a quick look at the Get Tall for Animals codes page before you settle into a long training session.
